Arthur J. Gonzalez is a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York. At the time of his appointment in 1995, he was United States Trustee for New York, Connecticut, and Vermont.

Judge Gonzalez earned his B.S. degree from Fordham University in 1969; an M.S. degree from Brooklyn College in 1974; his J.D. degree from Fordham Law School in 1982; and an LL.M.degree from NYU Law School in 1990.

From 1969 until 1982 Judge Gonzalez was a public school teacher in the City of New York. From 1982 until 1988 he was a staff attorney with the Manhattan District Counsel's Office of the IRS. From 1988 until 1991 he was in private law practice in New York as an associate, first at the firm Pollner, Mezan, Stolzberg & Glass, and then at Gaston & Snow. From 1991 until 1993 Judge Gonzalez was an Assistant United States Trustee for the Southern District of New York; and from 1993 until his judicial appointment in 1995 he was United States Trustee for New York Connecticut and Vermont.
